A Life Lesson
Can you notice? We all are in need of a life lesson, and football might just be it. Look around and it is able to be seen. The NFL is not even noticing that they are able to help but they really don't want to get involved.
What are the life lessons?
Truth, Honesty, trust and try not to hate. That last one seems to be a lost cause for everyone. The truth: We have coaches that are promised jobs and employees that are promised the same. Honesty: Well, the NFL gives you a contract but is not guaranteed. They give you a contract that is written in paper and it's just paper. They will drop you as soon as you can't give them what they need. Trust: You trust that the team will pay you the money that you deserve, but they also hope you will live up to the money that they give you. Let's take a look at this season alone.
Peyton, Jackson, and Forte. Three guys that will explain it all. Forte is looking for a new contract and still playing for his teammates, but he got hurt. Jackson has already received a couple of concussions and is wondering when he is going to get paid. Peyton has given a lot to the Colts and it is possible they will drop him just so they can save some money.
I have said for years I think every player that enters the NFL should be on a performance based salary. Once you enter you can get a good salary if you perform well. I would want to know what players and owners think of that? There could be some problems with that but players and owners need a new system.
Hate: Let's notice what is going on in the NFL with Tim Tebow. With Tebow the Broncos are 7-4 and the last 3 games they have not looked good. He threw 4 interceptions against the Bills, so did Brady. He played poorly against the Chiefs, so did the Packers. Is 6-22 good, no. Do you know that we all have had bad days? This game that they play is just a game. It is their lives, and their career. We all need to take a step back and look at ourselves. Did Tebow stink it up last week, YES. Will he rebound, I am not sure if he will be given the opportunity. This week will determine the rest of his career. I wonder how we all would do if we had only one year to perfect our craft and one day will change it all. I have listened to my daughters music enough to learn, "Hate is bad".
Enjoy your games this weekend and wonder what is next for 4 guys this off year, Jackson, Peyton, Forte, and Tebow. What lesson will we learn in 2012.
The NFL Forgets
Did you play football when you were younger? What do you remember any of the rules? Just like the NBA, which the NBA is worse, the NFL has forgotten what we learned. What is holding, what is spearing, and other rules of the game.
When I was younger, I was told not to spear anyone. The penalty was 15 yards and the NFL has forgotten this. I agree Harrison should be fined and suspended. When are we going to learn how to tackle and this is for your own safety, too.
Just like the NBA with traveling, the NFL does not always call holding. If the NFL called holding every time, there would be a flag on every play. Let's be a little more consistant, though. The best or favorite players are getting too many breaks.
Having fun is disappearing, and it has started with no dancing in the end zone. I agree with not letting people dance after they tackled someone after they just gave up 15 yards. Taunting is something I never really liked but it's worse when you gave them a first down.
Who really knows who is doing the instant replay at the games. Who is the one that is judging what is the rule? They are watching what we are watching but they are not following what I learned. He or her must be looking at a different rule book. But lately the NFL and I have not seen eye to eye.
Joe Pa
This will be short. Every story on ESPN is about Joe Pa, this is getting old. One thing that I remember someone told me growing up, "Put yourself in their shoes".
Joe Pa should be looking at that, and so should everyone else. I look at family and friends of the victims right now, this needed to be now. Joe said it in the words he used, "I should have done more"!!!
We all need to put yourself in their shoes, I think I could not even imagine what the kids are going through and the parents of these kids. The people that want Joe Pa to coach one more or even the rest of the season, remember the comment Joe Pa said. "I should have done more"...
Joe Pa is standing in front of the investigation. I know it is hard for people to notice but some people are afraid to say anything because they did not want to hurt Joe Pa's reputation. I know people love Joe Pa, but this is more than Joe Pa. I know people are going to be upset that he got a phone call, but that is all that could be done. If someone went to his house, you don't know what could have happened. The media also would have found out before Joe Pa, if they went to his house. No easy way to fire someone, but it needed to be done.
Top Ten Head Scratchers
1. Why does everyone want Tim Tebow to fail? It's not how you play the game, it's whether you win or lose. I remember Troy Aikman's rookie year, 1-15. I am not saying Tim is a Hall of Famer, but he does make the people around him win. You can say what you want, but he has more wins than Orton does in less time.
2. Why Joe Paterno is still coaching? I don't want to say that Joe is involved with this scandel, but he runs that town. If something was going on, he knew about it. Watch the movie, Unecessary Roughness, the cop goes to the head coach of the football team when there is trouble. This is not the only thing that has been covered up.
3. Tiger Woods and his caddie. This is a bad relationship gone bad. Steve Williams and Tiger need to stop talking about each other.
4. Why the NBA players really think they have leverage? If I don't watch one NBA game this year, it would be ok with me. The only one's that I care about are the people that work in the buildings and they need to find new work.
5. Why is Andy Reid still coaching in Philly? With some of the talent there is in Philly, they should not be 3-5. Let Vick, play to his strengths not to his biggest weakness.... He is 5ft 9in and his lineman are 6ft 2 and bigger. Have you ever stood behind someone that is bigger than you, it's not easy.
6. Why is Tony Romo and Jason Garrett still employeed by the Cowboys? Jason had quit on Wade Phillips and than he becomes a head coach, sad.... Tony has no confidence in his throws, you can tell by the speed of them. The Cowboys will not win it all with him there.
7. Why is the NHL really not pushing their product? This is the time to pick up more fans but I don't see it. This is why you have only the few loyal fans that you have.
8. Jim Thome is back in Philly. Why would Jim do this, but there is a part of me that is happy about it. I am a big Jim Thome fan because he seems like a class act. I do wish him luck though.
9. Why anyone thinks they have a chance against the SEC in football, they are that good this year, again
10. Why some fans can not go to work after a loss from their team. I heard of someone that got that drunk after their team lost, they missed work the next day..... sad..
People and Sports
I take time out because my life still goes on. People need to know this but they seem to forget this. What has happened lately. I don't know where to start.
Dream Teams, Brett Favre, Baseball, College Sports and just people and their teams.
The Eagles are a dream team on paper, if you like to play paper games. Why don't you roll up a paper football and play on a table, that is what paper football is. They still have more problems than just playing on the field. Their team is not built to win. This game is a team sport and it needs a full team to win. Andy Reid keeps on drafting offensive and defensive linemen and they still have problems there. They kept Michael Vick because they don't have a good line. Are we blaming the players or the coach? I want everyone to know that players win championships and coaches just put the right players on the field. That is the problem with this team. Andy has done a good job at keeping the team a good team but he is not making them champions because they don't have what they need. I remember McNabb and the Eagles and my biggest complaint with them was, they were a passing team and they did not have good receivers. The problem with the Eagles is they are staying the same squad while everyone around them are getting better. They might be able to win the NFC East year after year but they forget there are other divisions.
Brett Favre makes a comment and people are all over him. My question is, why? Why are we still worrying about what Brett Favre is saying. He was right on what he said but people want to take it the way they heard it. Have you ever read the Bible? We all take something away from it but we all see what we want to see. I say the Bible because that is the most read book in the world. Brett is a player that was a good player and now we want to tear him down. Stephen A Smith wants to throw it out there that he only won one Superbowl, really. Dan Marino, Dan Fouts, Boomer and Fran Tarkenton never won. Do they stink? Oh wait, they like to throw their two cents in too. The media makes me laugh. Brett Favre is right, Aaron Rodgers is a good quarterback and I am surprised it took him this long to win a Superbowl. The one thing that is the problem is, it's not easy to win one. We all have been spoiled by Tom Brady, Troy Aikman and Joe Montana. They made it look easy to keep getting back there and win it. People need to sit back and take a look a comments made by anyone. The media loves to build someone up and they also like to see someone fail. Why doesn't the media stop interviewing Brett Favre and let him live his life off the field.
The Baseball playoffs are going on and we might see something that might upset a lot of people. Right now the Texas Rangers are the only ones that are moving on. The Phillies and Cardinals are tied at 2, the Yankees and Tigers are tied at 2 and the Diamondbacks and Brewers are tied at 2. What would surprise us the most? The Yankees or the Phillies losing. I don't think anyone is really watching the Brewers and Diamondbacks. I watched them last night and I want everyone to know that they both won at home. It's 2-2 but this game is up in the air when they play the last game. The Yankees have a rookie on the mound tonight that could win but if he doesn't what is the media going to say? He couldn't handle it or are the Yankees are to old? All these teams beat all the other teams to get where they are and they deserve to be there. The Phillies might be the biggest dissappointment if they don't win. They won 102 games this year but who did they have the most problems with, oh the Cardinals.
College Sports are no longer just college sports. They are being on the TV every week more and more. They are making their college tons of money. But we all have to remember they are between 18 and 24. Do you remember what you were doing when you were 18? Where you playing in front of millions of people? If you were, you know what its like to be under pressure. I have made it known what I think about College Sports but people need know it's not as easy as you think. I like watching college sports but I look at it as entertainment, not my life. It is some of these kids life to be a star but just remember they are young adults.
I think we all need to take a step back and think before we react. I know the media wants to chime in but I think we all need to have our own opinions. Look at what you see and come up with your opinions. I grew up being a Cowboy fan because of Danny White, because I was a punter and a quarterback. I look at the Cowboys and I see Tony Romo and I don't think the Cowboys will win the Championship with him. That bothers some of the Cowboys fans that I know. They want me to trust Tony and he will do it. This is what I laugh at, I see his downfalls and now people want to join me. Ok, I know I have said a lot about Tony but the media made him look so good with his fantasy numbers. I want people to look at his numbers in late November and December. Do I want to throw Tony under the bus, no. I just don't think he has what it takes to win.
Just remember, it's just a game.
The Death Penalty
The words are being spoken, Death Penalty. Miami football is being talked about and they are talking about the "Death Penalty". It is a second time they have been talked about and now they want to talk the big penalty. Do we remember when Miami was in this trouble before? That was in the 80's right? Some of the kids that are playing right now were not even born. Now you want to give them the Death Penalty? Am I the only one that thinks that is wrong? I think we need to take a look at someone else getting the Death Penalty. Ohio State got caught with Pryor but was Pryor there first? Do we remember Clarett? Oh wait, that was just thrown under the pile of paper work we call lawyers. There is no need to bring up the past, because the past is the past.
Let's talk about the future of College Sports. It's time to have the Death Penalty but it is not for teams it is to the NCAA rules. We need to take a look at everything and start from scratch. There are too many people that get special priviliages to go on the field. That needs to stop. The only people that should be on the field of play is the coaches, players and trainers. We don't need boosters and ex-players or alumni. The players can get paid just like an employee in the cafeteria of the student shops. Yes, they can clock in and clock out just like an employee. This gets two things done, we know how long they practice and they get paid. It is hard to play college sports and try to work. I do understand that all to well. I think we need to start there. I know this sounds crazy but we need to start from scratch and throw out the rule book and start with a new one. I think some of the rules are good but we are following rules that are before I was born. We now text message and follow each other on the internet.
Miami has had a lot of problems with old players and alumni, and I know that. I don't know much about this latest person and I really don't care. I don't like the idea that he is throwing everyone under the bus because he is in trouble. The money he spent was for his own profits. He knew that he was in the wrong, but now he wants everyone to know that he lived this life and the players were there with him. I want you to think what you would do if you were these players. I know some of us would not do it but it is to easy to say when you are not there. A coaches responsibility is to make sure a player does not follow these people but we also need the players to police themselves.
Let's start from scratch. I know I have said this a couple of times, but here we go.
First of all, all players are paid like a student that works for the school store. This will give them money for what they need. They will clock in during practice and clock out to keep the times under control. If they want to work out that does not count as time. That is like a student that studies. Coaches need to hire a couple of people that keep eyes on their team to make sure they stay clean. If people do not want to follow these rules, we can talk about penalties. Penalties will be more than losing a player for next year. The coaches could lose his job and also sit out from any coaching job for that period. If a player does not follow that policy they don't get the credit for that year and they will have to wait to get into the NFL. Sounds a little hard but it can be done.
The Death Penality goes to the old book of rules, we are now in a new era. Let's follow a new book.
What Has Happened
Why Do I take Breaks
Let's Look and Respond
Ohio State, Lock Out, The Mavericks, Hockey Finals, and Baseball.
Ohio State has finally got busted, and people seem surprised. Don't be surprised it happens all over the college world and it's not only in sports. Don't you think there are the brains out there that are wined and dined to come to a school. It happens and please don't think it doesn't. But let's talk about Ohio State and the players. They have been caught and now they lost their coach. Tressel is now going to sit out for a little bit and than wonder if he should come back. Let's see if he does but is this all is fault? This is not his only time he has been caught. So beware if you take a look at him. Just look at the Clarett Era and you might even find more.
Lock Out for football. This makes me laugh. The Lawyers are going to make more money than the average players do for a 10 year career. Take a look at the numbers and that will make you laugh, because it is only for 8 months worth of work. It makes me laugh but it should make the players and owners angry.
The Mavericks win and all the talk is about the Heat. I like Mark Cuban as an owner and I like all the players like Dirk, Terry, and Kidd. Stop talking about the Heat and celebrate the winner.
The Hockey finals are going to a game 7 and I bearly see anything on TV about it compared to basketball and other sports. Why? Easy to figure this out, they don't have a network that really supports them. This is what a lock out does to a sport.
Baseball is starting to see teams separate and teams to wonder how they should make some money and look towards the future. The Red Sox are winning and the fans of the Sox are saying they are the team to beat. They are a good team and I think they can go far, but their pitching must hold up. They have not finished a season in years.
To The Fellows
Who is your Favorite
Who is better
I don't think they really are the same thing. I listen to people talk about Mike Schmidt and Scott Rolen. In Philly this is a sensitive subject. As a player for baseball or as a fan this is something you have to look at but it is almost impossible to look at. As a Philly fan, you will say Mike is better than Scott. Is that true as a player? Was Mike a better fielder than Scott? As a player growing up, I saw more from Scott Rolen than I saw from than I saw from Mike Schmidt. Does that mean that Mike could not compare to Scott Rolen, no.
Watching baseball all my life, I became fan of the game and how people played their position. I grew up watching players making great plays because of ESPN. I saw players making plays from going to the park, also. I studied how people played their position because I wanted to be one of them. I looked at Mike and Scott and also players like Nettles and Caminiti. Who is better and not who is on my favorite team. In Philly Mike is legendary, but is he a better fielder? The Phillies won it in 1980 and the fans remember that. This argument will never be won to fans because their loyality is to their team. Brooks Robinson was an amazing third basemen but Phillies fans never even noticed him. I could talk into I am blue in the face but people in Philly will always put Mike on that high mountain.
Do I try to argue? Is it necessary? The past is the past, but I will say this. If Scott Rolen was on a team that won a Championship in Philly this argument would be different.
Superbowl XLV
Be careful.... Words we should all take a look at. All season long I heard people say how many good teams were in the AFC and no NFC team is able to compete against the AFC. I guess until now, all I hear now is that the Green Bay Packers are favorite against the Pittsburgh Steelers????
I think some of us are "Prisoners of the Moment". I understand that the Packers are playing well, but be careful. I think I am looking at something that people are not. I understand that the Steelers are missing a starting center. I understand that can really change the game, but be careful. Aaron Rodgers is playing well, and I understand that. I know that the Packers are the team that everyone thinks is playing the best, but be careful. Are you looking at Aaron Rodgers and saying, he is not Brett Favre. Be careful, I think some people want to see Green Bay win because they want to say goodbye to the Brett Favre era. I think some people want to see Green Bay to win because they are sick of seeing the Steelers win.
When Brett Favre won the Superbowl the media is the one that put him on the top of the mountain. Now the media wants to bring him down. This is not about Brett Favre, it's about the Green Bay Packers and the Pittsburgh Steelers. What happens if the Packers win? I ask this because I am seeing a pattern. Guess who the media is going to put on the top of the mountain? Do you see the pattern? Be careful!!!!
I understand the fans of each team want to see their team win. I just have to laugh at the fans that don't like either team and now they are choosing sides. Most of the fans that are choosing the Steelers are choosing them because they are sick of the beginning of the media madness about Aaron Rodgers. Most of the fans choosing the Green Bay Packers are choosing them because the Steelers have won it too much.
Where do you stand? What do you think about the Superbowl? Are you watching it because of the commericals? Are you watching it because everyone else is watching and you just want to hang out? That is the best reason, in my opinion. Hang out with some friends and have some fun today. Be careful and have fun. My stand today is enjoy your day and just remember if the Packers win Aaron Rodgers is now Brett Favre of the next 10 years. If the Steelers win, it will be a team win.
This Football Year
Who's left? The Steelers vs. The Jets, and The Bears vs. The Packers. I don't know really what to say about that. Well, let me see. I think the Steelers should be the the Jets and the Bears should beat the Packers. Home field advantage should be a big advantage in both these situations.
Let's talk about this season, though. The Seahawks in the playoffs was a situation that most people did not like. They would have won the Superbowl to have a winning record. The Brett Favre experiment did not work this year for the Vikings and people are blaming it all on Brett Favre. I guess they forgot that the defense did not show up this year. The offense was bad but they did not have anyone to throw to all year. The Jets were on Hard Knocks and they were the talk of the town. They have played there way into the AFC Championship. They have a great offense with a quarterback that is still trying to figure things out. They have a great offensive line and great receiving core. They have Holmes that use to play for the Steelers. They beat the Patriots and that was the team that everyone thought would win the Superbowl. Everyone forgot one thing though, their defense had no playoff experience. The Eagles were in the playoffs and they had Michael Vick but they forgot to play once they got into the playoffs.
Let's talk about the remaining teams and their game. The Steelers have a fan base that even surprises me. They have just as many woman as they do men. I can not believe how many woman I see with Steelers jersey's. That fan base is strong and they know they know their team. The Jets are fans that have not had a good team in years but now they are coming out of the wood work. The Packers and the Bears are fans that have had jersey's for years and some of them still have Brett Favre and Mike Ditka jersey's. These games will be fun to watch because of the fan base. The Bears and the Packers are an old school rivalry. The Steelers are an old school team but the Jets are a team that has not seen this spot since Superbowl III. Well, last year they were there but no one really gave them a chance like this year. Let's talk about jersey's and the quarterbacks. How many Sanchez and Cutler jersey's do you see? You see some Rodgers jersey's but Ben has all them beat in a landslide. Let's see how these games go.
NCAA
What should I say? The NCAA is showing their true colors. You don't want to suspend any player for a bowl game that has a lot of money already on the books. The money is already spent and already in your pocket. You will not suspend a player for a bowl game? This is something I do not understand. You are going to put them on suspension for next year? What happens if the players turn pro? That means you are off the hook and you look like you did your job.
For the players on Ohio State. I want to say that you should have known better, but I say that with a little hesitation. I understand that you think that what you have in your possesion is now yours. We have players like O.J. Simpson selling his Hesiman so why can't you sell what you have. The funny thing about this is I understand. If this place did not get raided, this stuff would have never have gotten out. What else should we know that does not get out? That is what the NCAA does not want the rest of the world to know. Who is to blame?
That is the question that will never be answered. We all are to blame. We think that players are not human. We think 18 to 22 year old kids should know better. We think that 18 to 22 year old kids don't see money and see something new in their lives. It might be a XBOX or Playstation 3 or it may be a new car. It might be a present for their mother or it might be to pay off bills. The NCAA makes tons of money from these players but they are not allowed to sell something they own to get something they want or need. We think these players should be better than anyone else. I think more could be brought out from all of this but it will only be brought out if the NCAA wants to dig some more.
There is money to made by selling stuff from these players because of their future. If they become pro and they become a player like Tom Brady, Peyton Manning or Brett Favre can you imagine the money these people would make. If the NCAA would get a cut out of it, do you think they would allow more things to happen? Just a thought.
Don't Trip Me
Where should I start for today? Brett Favre, Cliff Lee, the trip, or just sports in general.
Of course I have to start with Brett Favre. He did not play on Monday night, and I did not even see the game. The game was not on regular television because the game was moved from Minnesota to Detroit. This fit the whole game and the whole scenario. I could not watch him on the sidelines with a cap instead of a helmet because the lights were turned off in Minnesota. Now everyone wants to talk about the streak and how hard it is, but they want to say he is not in their top ten because he played so many games. I am a little confused by that. You want to put players that played less because they would have had better numbers if they played more. Do you know how stupid that sounds? I understand that is true, but they didn't. That is the whole thing about Brett Favre, he showed everyone how the game should play. He was there every week and he took chances that needed to be taking to get his team further. I need someone that can be there every week and do their job. I need someone that can pick his team up when they are down. (4th quarter) You can talk about some bad decisions he has made but what got his team there? Maybe time will make his career more understood but to me as a fan of the game he is in my top 5.
Cliff Lee to the Phillies and the fans are happy. This could have been done last year. He could have been on the Phillies last year with the same team. I think Phillies fans should be happy but look carefully. I am glad to see him on the Phillies again but they are one short in the outfield and one short in a right handed bat.
Don't trip me. The Jets strength coach tripped a player? Fits the squad in my opinion. I know people make mistakes and they deserve a second chance, but this one a idiot move. I am glad that he called the player and the coach of the Dolphins and apologized. Enough said.
Sports are getting to be more than life for some people. I enjoy the games but don't let in run your life. If your team losses it doesn't and should not change your family life. I have a friend that has entered the life of sports gambling, and I have made my opinion known. I am not a fan of gambling and it is not a way of getting head on your bills. Going to work and spending wisely is a better way. I understand the excitement of gambling but I will stay away.
Thanksgiving 2010
This year in football
My Top Ten
1. The top teams with 7 wins or more, Eagles, Bears, Packers, Falcons, Saints, Bucs, Patriots, Jets, Ravens, Steelers. 6 in the NFC and 4 in the AFC, but the media is giving all the love to the AFC?
2. The Eagles have Michael Vick and the Eagles fans are all about him now. When they picked him up there was not a lot of love for him. Now he is the talk of the town. I said before he did his time, and some fans ripped me for it.
3. The Jets are on top and Revis is the best corner in football. He has taken a trick out of Michael Irvin's play book, if they don't see it, it is not a penalty.
4. The Cowboys have a new coach and they have a new look. If you are a Cowboys fan this should bother you, they should have played this way the whole year. You did not add a coach outside of your locker room. He was there the whole time. He should have coached you that way the whole time. Why did it take this long to play?
5. Injuries are part of the game. The Packers and the Colts don't even know who they are throwing to every week and they are still winning.
6. Interceptions: Some quarterbacks have a lot of interceptions this year and the media is only blaming them. Take a good look at the receivers routes and when they change or fall on their routes you might change your opinion. I watched a game with Favre throwing 3 interceptions and the media did not say one thing about the ball was already in motion and the receivers fell on 2 of them. The other one was a receiver faked one way and went the other way.
7. The Bengals. Can someone tell me how they lose every week. Palmer has not looked the same.
8. The Vikings defense has forgotten how to sack the quarterback. Don't blame it only on the offense.
9. The Lions on Thanksgiving. Do not change that the Lions on Thanksgiving. They might not be the team that everyone wants to see, but they do have something that works. The city of Detroit deserves it.
10. I understand that we need to keep a good eye on concusions in the NFL and all sports, but if someone accidently hits the helmet with a hand we should not be calling a penalty.
On Thanksgiving we are asked to be thankful for what we have. Guess what folks it's not only on Thanksgiving. Enjoy your Thanksgiving.

Things I need to say
Roy Halladay: If you watched it last night, you probably just saw something that was a first for you. Last one was in the 50's. Good for him and I did not leave the spot I was sitting in after the 5th.
The Rangers: A team that I would like to win their first round. Too many guys on that team that I find myself rooting for. They are not my favorite team but I do root for them.
Yankees: It seems to me that they always think they can win no matter what the score is, scary for some teams. If they have confidence that is good but confidence and truth can be??? Be careful, that is all I have to say.
Randy Moss: Back in Minnesota. I wonder how this will turn out. I like to see how he does with Brett Favre. I wish him well. I am not a huge fan of the Patriots and some of their tactics.
The Giants and Braves: They will play their first game after two games by the Rays and Rangers, and Yankees and Twins. Weird.
Sept 16th 2010
Ten Things You Need To Know
1. Reggie Bush and the Heisman Trophy story: He knew an advance they wanted the trophy back. He did not do the right thing and give it to them. It's almost like a criminal that gives himself up to the police with a lawyer.
2. The WBNA played a whole season and they are in the finals, just in case you missed it.
3. Nascar is about to race in the chase.
4. We all have heard that good pitching beats good hitting: Cardinals are out of the playoffs and the Reds are not.
5. Ohio State still has to look at the Clarett era. Reggie Bush is not the only one that has taking money and won a National Championship.
6 Can you imagine a baseball playoff with the Reds, Giants or Padres, Phillies, Braves, Yankees, Rays, Rangers, and the Twins. Oh wait, are those Rockies going to make another late run?
7. Manning vs Manning: If you are a brother, this is pretty cool. It could put the Colts 0-2.
8. Concussions have happened a lot in all sports. We saw a couple of concussions in football this weekend.
9. We have a player this year that has more homeruns this year than the last three years combined.???
10. Fantasy football players still make me laugh. A player gets hurt and they are mad that they ruined their season. ????
Black or White
If you know me at all, you know I don't look at things as black or white. I see them as right or wrong. I say this for one reason today.
If you have ever seen ESPN First Take, you have seen Skip go against alot of people in a debate. My favorite one is Jemele Mills, but today it made me write on my site about a few things.
Todays news, Brett Favre, Lebron James, and Roger Clemens. Why does anything need to be seen as black or white. What year is this. If you don't like any of these players that is your right. Is it right or wrong that is up to you.
If you like Lebron, you can still like Lebron. If you like Favre, you can like Favre. If you like Clemens, you can like Clemens. There is no black or white. Lebron is disliked by some people in Clevend for leaving. Favre is disliked by people for waffling. Clemens is disliked for lying to Congress and the steriods issue.
Brett is a 40 year old guy that loves the game of football and still wants to play. He does not like the mini camps and just wants to play. You can say what you want about him but the truth is the truth. He said, "if my ankle is healthy, I will play." I want to be 40 and enjoy my job as much as he seems to like it. I enjoy watching him play.
Lebron is a person that wants to win the NBA championship. He thought that going to the Heat will do that. He talks about the character of his old owner, that does not sit well with fans that saw him leave on an hour long special. If he thinks he made the right decision that is up to him.
Roger Clemens is being indicted for lying to Congress. This should make everyone laugh. You have a person like his trainer, testify that he lied just so he does not go to jail. That makes me laugh because I have seen people that have lied and I am talking about Congressman and above them, and they don't go to jail.
Black or White. Right or Wrong. I think we all need to take a step back and wonder what is the difference. When Barry Bonds was going through all this I remember people were split and I thought that was wrong. I remember I was just not a fan of Bonds because of his attitude. He is still a great baseball player and I admit that.
I have an idea, allow a group of doctors to be in charge of each league and they will determine what is needed for each player.
Intervention
Guess who needs some intervention today? Today, it is the NBA. It will not be from Jesse Jackson, though. That is the last person that needs to step in and make some comments. David Stern, well he should be the one, but he is only looking at the bottom line and he can't do it either. Lebron, Wade and Bosh all on one team. How did this all happen? Check the phone records and you will know that this was planned when all these players were on other people's rosters. If an owner did this they will be fined, but since this was done by players it will be ok. Is it? Actually, I really don't care. This is the NBA. Does anyone really watch the NBA anymore? Not Basketball Anymore. That is what the new name should be. Growing up, I use to love watching the NBA, but the game has changed. The owner of the Cavaliers makes some comments and he gets fined 100,000. He should not make those comments according to David Stern. Jesse Jackson says it was a slavery comment. Jesse, I think you need to know, if that was a white player, you would not have said one thing. Do I think the comments were uncalled for, yes. Do I think he spoke from the heart, yes. Do I think we look at players as more than they really are, yes.
Today we need to look at things a little different. Lebron made a joke out of all of this. He thinks he is bigger than the game. The Cavaliers help him with this process, though. They built their future on one guy. They thought that one player could save their team. It is a team game, well at least it use to. Do you think that Pippen, Kerr, and all the other players would be remember if it wasn't. Kobe use to be the disliked one in the NBA but we might have a new one. As much as I use to not like Kobe, I admitted that he can play the game better than anyone right now. If Perkins does not go down in game 5, would the Celtics have lost game 6 and 7. I do like Wade but I am not sure I want to see him hold up the trophy next year.
People are going to say what they want to say about this year, but I am a person that will speak the truth. I will sit down and think before I speak. Do I understand why Lebron went to the Heat, yes. Do I understand why the Cavaliers owner said what he said, yes. Do I think most Cavaliers fans want to say the same thing, yes. Lebron was loved in Clevend. They thought he would be the one that brought them the trophy, but money is what drives people. Lebron knows that he needs to win to be even bigger. I know that fans of Clevend are hurting right now, but wait and see what happens. Enjoy what you have in your life, because some of these players are not who you think they are. They are all about the bottom line. I heard Lebron say this is a business, it's a business that he wants to run. He will say what he is told to say and have help from his teammates to make it them versus the world. Guess what, in everyones life it is us versus life itself. Basketball is just a game that business men play.
Let's see what will happen next. Words will be spoken by both sides and it's kind of funny. The Cavaliers need to start over and remember the game needs to be a team game.
Two guys that started a website to talk about sports in Philly. fansdontknow.com is a site that we would like everyone to see and enjoy, but I understand that not everyone will agree. The two guys don't always agree, either.
Born in New York, but raised in Pennsylvania. I always wanted to be a Philly Sports Fan, but I never changed over. I am a person that sticks with my team. My wife is a Phillies fan til the end. It's not bad, I watch the game with no arguements. Sometimes I don't get to see the whole game because the T.V. some how gets turned off. Two years ago, I blamed it on Mesa, so did my wife.
I know that I have played baseball all my life and just had fun with the rest of the sports. I enjoy watching everything but it doesn't control my life. If it is a big game, or just a game I want to watch, it depends, on what is going on that day. We live in the ESPN era, I can catch it all on Sportscenter. Unless, it is the Montco Wiffle Ball Tournament, which is usually at the end of September. Sports is a part of my life.
fansdontknow.com will be one of us and fansdontknowuniversity.com will be the other one. Why two sites? We don't always agree and we both might a different take on things.
